It will play and store owned music files that you sync/transfer to the device. It will not connect to streaming services, because it is an object for supporting music, as well as enjoying it.

The unit is a custom design in a hand-assembled enclosure but the internal parts will be sourced from existing components meaning it will not be as thin as we would like, and may not have the fit and finish you'd expect from a major tech company. The supplier we'll use have already supplied earlier prototypes which are withstanding a satisfactory amount of usage and we'll push for the highest quality available. The unit will ship with beta software and we will be developing this in-house based on your feedback and suggestions and issuing software updates. You'll have a private community space to speak to us directly about bugs and requests, to refine the software. To recap, the unit will be prototype hardware which we'll aim to be as good as possible, and prototype software, which we will be updating and improving alongside you using, testing and hopefully enjoying the devices.

We have built and will be exploring various sync and transfer utilities and partnerships for getting your music from Bandcamp, iTunes and more onto the device. It will not support streaming services.
